This news of Jesus spread throughout the Roman Empire, and as it grew, a concise summary of the core tenants of Christian faith developed that eventually became the Apostles Creed.  “I Believe” is based upon this foundational Creed of the Church. In this age of many voices, perspectives, philosophies, and ideologies, it is important to remember and reflect upon the core tenants of our Christian faith and their significance for our lives.

One of my favorite days of the year is this Sunday — the day we hear from our Students about their various experiences with God lately. Ethan Watt, our Director of Student Ministries, will be providing coordinating leadership — he has been doing an outstanding job since arriving in March, and we are blessed. In addition to some of the students sharing their musical talents in worship, we will also hear some of them share testimonies of what God has been doing in their lives. We also plan to have students assisting in all aspects of worship service support. I urge you to make plans to be there with me to encourage these young people, and be encouraged as they share from their hearts. Let’s also be praying for Ethan Watt, Joe Mullen, Alicia Mathews and the rest of our student ministry team.

I’m always pleased to have Rev. Jeff Jaynes preaching at Christ Church! He is a great communicator and is always so well received by our congregation. Jeff is going to be preaching in the Sanctuary at 9:30 & 11 am and online by livestream too. He is Executive Director of Restore Hope here in Tulsa, our UM extension ministry with a mission of “Restoring families in financial crisis to economic and spiritual vitality”. Jeff’s sermon ,“I Believe in the Kingdom That Has No End” from John 6:1-14 will be a relevant message we need to hear. I’m so pleased to partner with Restore Hope in its mission, and am grateful to Jeff for his collaborative leadership. It’s going to be another great day of worship this Sunday. Faith Promise Missions Sunday - Listen as we share stories from three ministries that Christ Church supports: Salvation Army, Stand in the Gap and Family Promise.

The Barna research group conducted a poll - they asked a cross section of American adults: “If you could ask God any question about your life, what is the single most important question you would want to ask him?” The result of this poll indicated that many people had questions about suffering, life purpose, life after death, miracles, God’s will. With these various questions in mind Pastor Bob approaches these questions from the perspective of the Scripture and historic Christian faith.
